Recently, Wallenius Wilhelmsen, an internationally renowned car carrier operator, and China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing) (“CMJL (Nanjing)”) , a Chinese manufacturer, signed a contract for the construction of four 11,700 CEU new generation methanol dual-fuel PCTCs (pure car and track carrier) in Oslo, Norway.
It is reported that the 11,700 CEU PCTC is designed with an overall length of about 234 meters and a width of 40 meters, with a total of 14 car loading decks (including 4 movable decks), realizing a maximum loading capacity of 11,700 vehicles.
As a new generation of large energy-saving and environmentally friendly green vessel, the 11,700 CEU PCTC adopts a dual-fuel design with methanol as the main fuel and ammonia fuel reserved to meet the latest emission requirements of EEDI 3 and Tier III. The vessel is also equipped with advanced green energy-saving technologies such as advanced bubble drag reduction and battery hybridization to further reduce carbon emissions.
It is understood that the contracted 11,700 CEU PCTCs refreshes the record of the largest number of vehicles loaded in a single vessel of the global car carriers, and becomes the largest methanol dual-fuel car carrier in the world. This PCTC is an ultra-large, intelligent and green 11,000-class CEU car carrier developed by CMJL (Nanjing), which is the world’s largest green car carrier of the new generation in the international shipping market. This marks that CMJL (Nanjing) has received an order for a real vessel with its own intellectual property rights.
As the earliest ro-ro ship builder in China, with the largest number of deliveries and the most complete range of products, CMJL (Nanjing) has been actively relying on new technologies, new energy and new materials, and has continued to expand its research and application in the fields of high-end, intelligent and green vessels.
