Maran Gas Maritime, part of the Angelicoussis Group, Greece’s largest shipping company, announced that on September 20, South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries delivered the 174,000 cbm liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Maran Gas Antibes to it.
Maran Gas Antibes will be operated on a long-term charter to French energy giant TotalEnergies.
“Maran Gas Antibes” is part of an order for four LNG dual-fuel powered Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) and three 174,000 cbm LNG carriers signed between Angelicoussis Group and Samsung Heavy Industries.
The LNG carrier features an environmental friendly design and state-of-the-art innovations, including an efficient hull structure, two latest generation engines, air lubrication system and shaft generators. It is classed by Bureau Veritas (BV) and flies the Greek flag.
In addition, Maran Gas Maritime has recently taken delivery of the 174,000 cbm LNG carrier Maran Gas Kimolo, the first of 11 174,000 cbm LNG carriers that Maran Gas Maritime has ordered from Hanwha Ocean (formerly Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, DSME) since November 2021. The remaining 10 new shipbuildings will be delivered between 2024 and 2027.
The official website shows that Maran Gas Maritime manages 47 vessels and has 11 newbuilding on order, with an average age of 7.5 years.
