On September 24, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), held a steel cutting ceremony for two 174,000 cbm LNG carriers.

One is the first LNG carrier of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) project, and the other one is the second LNG carrier of CNOOC Phase II project.

Both LNG carriers are independently developed by Hudong-Zhonghua as the fifth generation of “Changheng Series” LNG carriers, with an overall length of 299 meters, a beam of 46.4 meters and a depth of 26.25 meters.

The vessel is equipped with a number of low-carbon and energy-saving technologies, featuring low comprehensive energy consumption, good low-temperature performance, strong cargo-carrying capacity, and smart maneuvering, operation and maintenance.

It reduces carbon emissions by more than 10 tons on a single day’s voyage and has excellent global access to 120 LNG terminals on every continent.
