On September 20, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (Beihai Shipbuilding) successfully named and delivered the sixth 5,500 TEU container ship built for CMA CGM, which is the 14th ship delivered by Beihai Shipbuilding this year.
The new ship was named PRESIDENT JB JOHNSON.
The ship is a 5,500 TEU container ship designed and built by Beihai Shipbuilding in cooperation with Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) for CMA CGM.
PRESIDENT JB JOHNSON has an overall length of 255 meters, a beam of 40 meters and a structural draft of 14.0 meters. It has a service speed of 21 knots, a deadweight of 72,827.2 tons and an energy efficiency design index (EEDI) of 52.3% below the baseline.
PRESIDENT JB JOHNSON adopts advanced design concepts and environmental protection technologies, with significant advantages such as high deadweight, low energy consumption and high safety. Its outstanding performance will bring higher efficiency and stronger market competitiveness to the ship owner’s operation.
