Steel cut ceremony was held for a 25,000 cbm trailing suction hopper dredger

On September 19th, Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC) successfully held a steel cutting ceremony for a 25,000 cbm super-large trailing suction hopper dredger inZhenhua Heavy Industries Qidong Marine Engineering.

The dredger is jointly financed by CCCC Shanghai Dredging, CCCC Dredging Group, ZPMC and CCCC Financial Leasing, and is under the general contract of National Engineering Research Center of Dredging, designed by Marine Design and Research Institute of China (MARIC), and built by ZPMC.

The 25,000 cbm trailing suction hopper dredger adopts a number of high-end, intelligent, green and localized advanced core technologies. It will reach the world-class level in terms of overall performance, comprehensive energy efficiency, energy saving and environmental protection.

The dredger can be widely used in deep-sea sand extraction and coastal deep-water harbor channel dredging, blowing and coastal maintenance projects.

It is equipped with a new generation of intelligent monitoring and integrated management platform developed completely independently in China, which can realize intelligent monitoring and integrated management of the ship, and the intelligent function configuration of the whole ship has reached the world-class level.

On the same day, a delivery ceremony was held for Xinhaixun – a 15,000 cbm LNG clean energy-powered trailing suction hopper dredger of CCCC Shanghai Dredging.

As the first independently-developed 10,000T large green energy trailing suction dredger in China that adopts LNG dual fuel power system, “XIN HAI XUN” is suitable for the waterway dredging and filling projects in the Yangtze River estuary area and coastal ports in China, and also serves as a multifunctional trailing suction dredger for coastal maintenance projects.

This ship, 155.7m long, 32m wide, 13.5m wide, having the maximum cabin capacity of 17,000m3 and a design speed of 14.5 knots, adopts a streamlined hull with dual engines (one for two hybrid drive), dual fuels (MDO and LNG), dual propellers, dual guide pipes, dual rakes, full deck, bow tower, and twin-skeg stern.

It is equipped with the most advanced and intelligent “one-click dredging” and “dredging & driving integration” systems in China. After completion, it will achieve the “unmanned dredging” function under typical working conditions. Moreover, the ship has obtained the CCS “Natural Gas Fuel, Dredging within R2, AUT-0, OMBO, DP-1” class notation.

The design concept of “XIN HAI XUN” is closely related to the national strategic goal of “carbon peak and carbon neutrality” and the current construction needs of green port waterways. In addition, the LNG power related technologies have filled the gap in the application of clean energy power in dredgers in China.
