ccording to Trade Winds，Chinese private petrochemical company Hengli Group has commissioned Hengli Heavy Industries to build two 306,000 DWT VLCCs. the order was signed at the beginning of September, and the price has not yet been announced.
Hengli Heavy Industry Park’s work scopes are six major areas including shipbuilding, offshore , main engines, equipment manufacturing, precision casting, and green building materials. They devoted to build a world-class green shipbuilding and high-end coastal equipment manufacturing industrial base towards a complementary and coordinated development of Hengli Heavy Industry in petrochemical industry as well as high-end manufacture of coastal equipment. Meanwhile, the production line is constantly upgraded and transformed, and will focus on the construction of shipbuilding, offshore engineering, engines, equipment manufacturing, precision casting, green building materials, six plates, after full operation, will have an annual steel processing capacity of 1 million tons, shipbuilding capacity of 6.3 million deadweight tons, the annual delivery of 40 ships capacity.
Hengli Heavy Industry has been trying to build VLCCs for a long time. The two VLCCs ordered by Hengli Group, the parent company of Hengli, are of vital importance to Hengli Heavy Industry, marking Hengli Heavy Industry’s formal entry into the tanker construction market. Before this VLCC order was made public, more than 30 new ship orders taken by Hengli Heavy Industry were for bulk carriers.
