On September 18th, Wuhu Shipyard held a steel cutting ceremony for the second 6,600 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker to be built for the British shipowner RFOcean.
Classed by BV, this series of chemical tanker has a deadweight of 6,600 tons with a cargo hold capacity of 7,500 m³. It is 113.60m in length, 17.60m in breadth, 9.00m in depth and 6.80m in design draught.
It features high automation, intelligentization, energy saving and environmental protection, as well as a number of functional highlights such as cargo suitability.
This series of chemical tankers have been optimized and upgraded, which continue to be equipped with highly intelligent equipment, and further improved in terms of ship power, structure and ice area.
Not only does it adopt the world’s first DC electric propulsion technology, but it is also Wuhu Shipyard’s new exploration of alternative clean energy for vessels in the context of global “carbon neutrality”.
The first chemical tanker of this series has started construction on May 22nd this year. And in April this year, RFOcean placed an order with Wuhu Shipyard for two more 18,500 DWT IMO Class II chemical tankers, which will start construction next year.
