COSL’s a life support platform weight reduction program achieves success

Recently, the weight reduction project of China Oilfield Services Limited’s (COSL) Haiyang Shiyou 906 platform has achieved a complete success, with the project completed 6 days earlier than the expected schedule.

Haiyang Shiyou 906 is a high-standard life support platform, which has been involved in Bohai Sea shore power, intelligent oilfield renovation, and life support projects of several newly built platforms.

In order to further improve the comprehensive performance of the platform, Haiyang Shiyou Platform 906 has been retrofitted by cutting the top of the pile leg, removing the locking device and cutting the top boss of the pile shoe.

After the retrofit, Haiyang Shiyou 906 platform achieves weight reduction of 1,287 tons, and achieves a draught of 8.02 meters on the platform, and an increase of 458.36 tons in floating variable load.

At present, the Haiyang Shiyou 906 has completed the towing operation and arrived at the new operation site. After two sailing and lifting tests, it has successfully verified that the weight reduction was a complete success.
