CMA CGM takes delivery of its fifth 5,500 TEU container ship

On September 13th, Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding under China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) named and delivered the fifth 5,500 TEU container ship built for CMA CGM.

The new container ship was named “PRESIDENT MONROE”.

In 2024, Beihai Shipbuilding has successfully delivered 12 ships, and the company plans to deliver the 6th in the 5,500 TEU container ship series in late September and two more by the end of the year.

“PRESIDENT MONROE” is designed by Beihai Shipbuilding and Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) for CMA CGM.

Equipped with a new main engine and cutting-edge emission reduction and fuel recovery systems, it offers excellent performance, safety, reliability and environmental friendliness.

Thanks to the well-designed hull line, high-efficiency propeller and full-suspension twisted rudder, the Energy Efficiency Design Index EEDI is 52.3% below the baseline.
