Guohang Ocean Shipping’s two 89,000 DWT methanol dual fuel bulk carriers was kicked off construction

On September 9, Wuhu Shipyard held a steel cutting ceremony at its Weihai base for two 89,000 DWT methanol dual-fuel bulk carriers built for Fujian Guohang Ocean Shipping (Group) Co.

These two 89,000 DWT methanol dual-fuel bulk carriers are a perfect integration of technological innovation and environmental protection, with a length of 229.00 meters, a beam of 36.00 meters, a depth of 20.90 meters, and a DWT of 88,700 tons, featuring a strong cargo carrying capacity.

Designed with dual-fuel main engine, the bulk carrier is equipped with advanced single propeller propulsion system, and its double-bottomed, single-hulled design combined with the optimized layout of the transom ensures the stability and safety of navigation. The innovative methanol tank design is placed below deck, which saves space and improves the overall safety performance.

In addition to bulk carriers, there are several vessels under construction in Wuhu Shipyard. On September 7, 18,500 DWT IMO Class II chemical tanker started construction in Wuhu Shipyard’s headquarter. It is noted that there are more than 20 vessels in this series, which belongs to the important practice of Wuhu Shipyard’s batch shipbuilding, and three vessels in this series are under construction.
