Höegh Autoliners Sells 19-Year-Old Car Carrier at High Price

On 9 September 2024, Höegh Autoliners ASA (“Höegh Autoliners” or the “Company”), through its subsidiary Höegh Autoliners Shipping AS, has reached an agreement for the sale of the owned vessel Höegh New York (IMO 9295830) for a price of USD 60.6 million.

Höegh New York (6,500 CEU) was built at Hanwha Ocean (formerly Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, DSME) in 2005. She is sailing under the NIS flag and is debt-free. The vessel will be owned and served in Höegh Autoliners’ trade network before her delivery to the new owner within first quarter 2025.

Andreas Enger, CEO of Höegh Autoliners, comments: “The sale of Höegh New York presents another good opportunity to further optimize the fleet, as we are getting more newbuilt vessels delivered”.

With more new-built car carriers being delivered one after another, the sale of old vessels by Höegh Autoliners aims to further promote fleet renewal. Up to now, Höegh Autoliners has ordered a total of 12 9100 CEU dual-fuel and zero-carbon ready Aurora Class PCTCs from China Merchants Heavy Industries Haimen shipyard (CMHI Haimen shipyard) , with four options scheduled for delivery in 2026 and 2027 to become effective. The vessels in force are currently in the construction phase.
