Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry kicked off construction of German Tanker’s 41,000 DWT oil produtc chemical tanker

On September 6, 2024, Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd.(XSI) under Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group Co. has officially kicked off the construction of the No.2 41,000DWT oil produtc chemical tanker of German Tanker Shipping Co.

Classed by DNV, the 41000DWT tanker has an overall length of about 199m, a beam of 32.20m, a depth of 16.6m, a design draught of 11.10m and a structural draught of 12m.

It is reported that Mawei Shipbuilding and Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry jointly undertook the project of four 41,000 DWT oil tankers from the European shipowner German Tanker on November 1, 2023, and the construction of this batch of tankers would be build at Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry.

On May 29, 2024, the contract for 2 optional vessels for the project came into effect. With the optional order coming into effect. With the option order coming into effect, the number of 41,000 DWT tankers of German Tanker to be built by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry has increased to six.

German Tanker Shipping is a shipping company founded on January 1st 1998 with its base in Bremen. Its fleet consists of 14 modern oil product tankers, all of which were built in Germany. 9 of them sail under the German flag and the other 5 sail under the Seychelles flag.
