CNOOC’s 6th 174,000 cbm LNG carrier kicked off construction ahead of schedule

On September 5, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), commenced construction of an LNG carrier for CNOOC three months ahead of schedule.

It is the 6th in the batch order of CNOOC’s 174,000 cbm LNG carrier series. With an overall length of 299 meters, a beam of 46.4 meters and a depth of 26.25 meters, it adopts the latest generation of double stern fin line shape and is equipped with a number of low-carbon and digital technologies, which have the advantages of good fast performance and low sailing emissions, high degree of advancement and global universality, light empty weight and strong cargo carrying capacity, flexible oil and gas balance, and strong matching of routes.

Hudong-Zhonghua said that the company has as many as 19 LNG carriers under construction in parallel. The company will promote a steady increase in production capacity, and will continue to summarize the experience of building LNG series carriers, and continuously optimize the construction process, so as to lay a solid foundation for achieving the goal of doubling the LNG carrier production capacity.
