HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), the intermediate holding company for HD Hyundai Group’s shipbuilding business, announced on Sept. 5 that it has signed a contract with a European shipping company for the construction of two liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessels, with a total order value of KRW 247.9 billion (approx. $185.4 million).
The new vessels will be built by HD Hyundai Mipo and is expected to be delivered in November 2027. Industry sources have linked the order to marine bunker refueler Peninsula.
Including the latest order, HD KSOE has taken orders for 150 new vessels valued at about $16.97 billion, realizing 125.7% of its annual order target of $13.5 billion.
