Jiangsu Ocean Shipping’s five 120 TEU purely electric containerships set to build

On August 30th, Wuhu Shipyard officially kicked off the construction of five 120TEU pure electric container ships for Jiangsu Ocean Shipping under Jiangsu Port Group. These five ships are inland waterway ships, which will be operated in Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal after delivery.

Wuhu Shipyard has been actively developing the Yangtze River Shipping into a demonstration area for green development of inland water transportation according to the requirement of “accelerating the green and intelligent development of inland waterway ships”.

In recent years, Wuhu Shipyard focuses on the R&D and production of new energy ships, and builds the Yangtze River Delta Green Shipping Service Area, which provides an ecosystem of integrated services such as annual audit and energy supply for inland waterway ships, and empowers the development of standardization and intelligence for ships along the Yangtze River and inland waterways. At present, it has a new energy ship construction base in Chizhou, and projects such as 100-passenger excursion ship and 3,000-ton Dual-use standardized new energy ship are under construction.

Adopting high-efficiency and environmental protection design with reliable performance, the 120TEU pure electric containership mainly undertakes the transportation of 1CC containers, and will sail in the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and Yangtze River navigation area.

The ship is 79.94 meters long, 12.65 meters wide, equipped with 3400kWh lithium iron phosphate batteries, 2 sets of 240kW high-efficiency motors, with a design speed of 14km/hour and a single range of more than 220km, making it a new generation of purely electric containership for the Grand Canal.
