CMHI Haimen shipyard cut steel for a 9300 CEU Methanol Dual Fuel Ro-Ro Vessel

On August 28, China Merchants Heavy Industries Haimen shipyard (CMHI Haimen shipyard) held a steel cutting ceremony for the 9300 CEU methanol dual-fuel ro-ro vessel ordered by China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES), which is the second sister vessel of the same type that CMHI Haimen shipyard has started to build this year.

The 9,300 CEU methanol dual-fuel Ro-Ro vessel will be equipped with the latest methanol dual-fuel main and auxiliary engines, which will meet the TIER-3 emission requirements and boast a high degree of energy efficiency and environmental friendliness.

Meanwhile, it will get the DNV cybersecurity class notation, it is an industry model that combines green, low-carbon, intelligence and efficiency, marking another important breakthrough in green shipping and digitalization.

It is reported that at the end of March 2023, CMES, through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, signed a Vessel Ordering Agreement with China Merchants Industry, a related party, for the construction of two 9,300 CEU methanol dual-fuel Ro-Ro vessels, with the combined shipbuilding payment for the two vessels not exceeding US$192 million; and also signed a buyer’s option agreement for four 9,000 CEU methanol dual-fuel Ro-Ro vessels, with the shipbuilding payment for each of the four option vessels not higher than US$96 million each.
