Jianglong Shipbuilding joins hands with Jimei University to build a 20-meter hydrogen fuel cell-powered experimental ship

On August 26th, Jimei University’s 20-meter hydrogen fuel cell-powered experimental ship “Ji Da Qing Dong 1”, which was constructed by Jianglong Shipbuilding, was successfully launched.

The ship will create an informatized ship platform powered by hydrogen fuel cell power system, integrating teaching, scientific research and practice, which is of great significance for promoting the wide application of marine hydrogen fuel cell power in China.

Classed by CCS, “Ji Da Qing Dong 1” is of steel-aluminum composite structure, with an overall length of 19.6 meters, a beam of 4.0 meters, and a designed maximum speed of 11 knots.

The power system of the ship adopts dual energy systems of hydrogen fuel cell and lithium battery, with a set of domestic self-developed hydrogen fuel cell set, rated power of 120kW, output voltage of 450~750VDC, and range of about 50 kilometers at cruising speed of 8kn.

It is reported that hydrogen energy has three major advantages of non-pollution, renewable and high efficiency, and the application of hydrogen fuel cell technology on ships can realize high energy efficiency, zero emission and ship comfort enhancement, which is an ideal power propulsion device for green ships.

In recent years, relying on the rich construction experience and technology accumulation, Jianglong Shipbuilding has not only successfully built the first 500kw hydrogen fuel cell powered ship “Three Gorges Hydrogen Boat 1” in China but also actively cooperated with a number of domestic scientific research institutions and colleges of higher learning to explore the application and research of green energy, including hydrogen fuel, methanol fuel, etc., to promote the green and low-carbon development of China’s shipping.
