GasLog took delivery of the first of four LNG carriers “GasLog Italy”

Hanwha Ocean (formerly Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, DSME) recently delivered “GasLog Italy”, the first of a series of four liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, to the Greek shipping company GasLog. The LNG carrier was set to build in March 2023, launched in early 2024 and christened in July 2024.

In 2021, GasLog placed a bulk order for four 174,000 m3 LNG carriers from then DSME at an undisclosed cost.

According to the data, the LNG carrier has an overall length of 294.9 meters, a beam of 46.4 meters, with a cargo tank capacity of 174,000 m3. It is powered by two HP-2S MEGI engines with shaft generators, an air lubrication system and a complete re-liquefaction system.

According to plan, the second “Marvel Phoenix” is expected to be delivered in September 2024; the remaining two units are expected to be delivered between 2024 and 2025.
