SMDERI and SWS signed a strategic cooperation agreement

On August 27, Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research institute (SMDERI) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS).

Both parties agreed that SMDERI and SWS have complementary advantages and broad cooperation space in terms of technology and resources. The two sides will take the signing of the strategic cooperation framework agreement as an opportunity and focus on new fuel supply system, onboard carbon capture system, desulphurization and denitrification system, inverter shaft generator system and other energy-saving and environmental protection equipments for ships, as well as the core equipments for large cruise ships, to further strengthen the complementary advantageous resources, equipment R&D and manufacturing, scientific research and industrialization practice and other aspects of cooperation and exchange, and jointly build an international leading high-end shipbuilding industry cluster, providing strong support for the construction of world-class shipbuilding group.

On the same day, the two sides also signed a contract for high-pressure LNG gas supply system for six 10,800 CEU dual-fuel car carriers. This ship type is the world’s first super-large car carrier exceeding 10,000 CEU. The signing of this contract lays a solid foundation for the all-round promotion of the strategic cooperation between the two sides and opens a new chapter of win-win cooperation.
