Chinese Maritime Transport (Taiwan) orders up to four 210,000 DWT bulk carriers at CSBC Corporation, Taiwan

On August 26, CSBC Corporation, Taiwan signed a contract for the construction of two 210,000 DWT bulk carriers with two subsidiaries of Chinese Maritime Transport (Taiwan) with another two option 210,000 DWT bulk carriers, according to Seawaymaritime.

Since 2004, CSBC Corporation, Taiwan has been building 9 bulk carriers of 200,000~210,000 DWT in total, of which 2 ships were commissioned by Chinese Maritime Transport (Taiwan) and the 210,000 DWT bulk carrier recently delivered to China Steel Express has been included in the 2019 Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) Significant Ships.

Chinese Maritime Transport (Taiwan) has decided to join hands with CSBC Corporation, Taiwan for the construction of 2 new generation 210,000 DWT bulk carriers with 2 options, due to its excellent design capability and good quality record.

Both parties have been in contact with each other since the beginning of this year, and after many technical and commercial negotiations, CSBC Corporation, Taiwan finally won this case with its superior ship and performance program, as well as the advantage of earlier delivery schedule.

The new generation of 210,000 DWT bulk carriers meets the needs of shipowner by re-configuring the main size and applying the advanced energy-saving technology developed by Chinese Maritime Transport (Taiwan), so that this new bulk carrier not only continues the many advantages of its predecessors, but also has an even better performance in terms of increasing deadweight and reducing fuel consumption compared to the previous generation design.

In the future, CSBC Corporation, Taiwan will continue to provide shipowners with high quality ship design and construction services, and contribute to the enhancement of China Taiwan’s position in the global shipbuilding industry through more flexible operation and refined management.
