Huanghai Shipbuilding christened two 62,000 DWT multi-purpose pulp vessels

On August 21, Huanghai Shipbuilding held a christening ceremony for two 62,000 DWT multi-purpose pulp carriers “COSCO Shipping Jixiang” and “COSCO Shipping Ruyi” built for a joint venture between Seacon Shipping and SeaKapital Holdings.

It is understood that “COSCO Shipping Jixiang” and “COSCO Shipping Ruyi” have an overall length of 201.8 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters, a depth of 19.3 meters, a design draught of 12.5 meters, a structural draught of 13.3 meters, with a service speed of not less than 13.5 knots.

The 62,000 DWT multi-purpose pulp vessels can be operated on global routes. In addition to transporting pulp, it can also carry bulk cargoes such as grains, iron ore, steel coils, etc., bulky cargoes such as wind power equipments, large mechanical equipments, etc., as well as containers.

The vessel is equipped with SCR system for main and auxiliary engines, which meets the NOx TIER III emission requirements, and obtains additional marks such as Smart Ship and Green Eco Ship, with excellent applicability, economy and reliability.

At present, Huanghai Shipbuilding has undertaken a series of 62,000 DWT multi-purpose vessels of 10 units, 7,000 DWT electric propulsion multi-purpose vessels of 4 units, 12,500 DWT multi-purpose heavy lift vessels of 8 units, 13,500 DWT bulk carriers of 4 units, and 50,000 DWT MR product tankers of 4 units, and the contracts for the 1800 TEU containerships in batch have come into effect for 41 units and 30 units have been delivered.

So far, Yellow Sea Shipbuilding holds more than 80 shipbuilding orders, with a contract value of more than CNY11 billion ( $1.54 billion), and the orders are scheduled until 2027.
