Jiangnan Shipbuilding’s 79,800 cbm Mark III LNG Carrier triumphed in sea trial

On September 5, Jiangnan Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of CSSC, built the first domestic 79,800 cbm Mark III thin film LNG carrier for JOVO ,was triumphed in sea trial.

During the sea trial, more than 100 sea trial items were completed. The ship’s speed test reached 18.9 knots, which is better than the design contract index, and the technical indexes such as fuel consumption, vibration, noise, etc. also gained the unanimous praise from shipowner and ship inspection.

The vessel is Jiangnan Shipbuilding’s independently designed and built “Sino-Flex”, which is the first medium-sized LNG carrier adopting GTT Mark III Flex membrane cargo enclosure system in China, classed by LR.

The vessel is designed with an overall length of 230 meters, a beam of 36 meters and a design draft of 9.8 meters. The construction of the vessel started at the end of December 2021, docked in mid-August 2022 and launched in mid-February 2023.
