On August 16, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian), a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, cut steel for the first unit of a series of 84,500 DWT multi-purpose pulp vessels to be built for CITIC Financial Leasing. This project will be another masterpiece of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) following the successful construction of 62000 DWT series, 68000 DWT series and 77000 DWT series of multi-purpose pulp vessels.
Classed by China Classification Society (CCS), the 84,500 DWT pulp vessel is 225 meters in length, 36 meters in breadth and 21.05 meters in depth, which is a multi-purpose vessel with container cargo hold for global routes. In addition to transporting pulp, the vessel can also carry bulk cargoes such as grains, iron ore, steel coils and other bulk cargoes, bulky cargoes such as trains, wind power equipment, large machinery and equipment, as well as containers and energy vehicles.
The vessel is equipped with SCR system for main and auxiliary engines to meet the NOx TIER III emission requirements. It is equipped with intelligent ship system and has obtained the additional notations of Green Eco Ship, Methanol Ready and Carbon Capture Reserved.
Meanwhile, the dehumidification system of cargo hold is upgraded, and the freezing function and temperature control function of dehumidifier are added, so that the dehumidification time of cargo hold can be shortened by half compared with the previous pulp vessels, and the quality of pulp cargo transportation is further improved.
Container loading quantity is further increased, the vessel can load standard 20-foot containers up to 3,600 units, and the maximum loading quantity can be up to 4,000 units through the special frame for collapsible commercial vehicles, which can help new energy vehicles to export in large quantities.
