CMES announces the resignation of its director

On August 17, China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) announced that the Board of Directors recently received a written resignation report from Mr. Weidong Deng, Vice Chairman of the Board. Mr. Weidong Deng applied for resignation as Vice Chairman, Director and member of the Specialized Committee of the Seventh Board of Directors of the Company due to changes in work adjustment.

The above resignation has not resulted in the Company’s Board of Directors falling below the statutory minimum number of members, and Mr. Weidong Deng’s resignation shall take effect upon delivery to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors of the Company will complete the by-election of new directors as soon as possible in accordance with the Company’s Articles of Association and other provisions.

Mr. Weidong Deng, born in 1967, with Chinese nationality, graduated from the Department of Geodetic and Oceanographic Sciences of Nanjing University, majoring in natural geography, and postgraduate doctor of science.

Since 2009, he has served as Assistant General Manager and General Manager of Planning and Business Department of China Merchants Holdings (International) Company Limited (CMHI); Deputy General Manager of CMHI; Director of Capital Operation Department of China Merchants Group; Director of the Seventh Session of the Board of Directors; and Vice Chairman of the Board of China Merchants Group.
