AFAI steel cut for a 53-meter aluminum catamaran high-speed passenger ship

On August 12, Afai Southern Shipyard(Panyu Guangzhou) Ltd. (AFAI), a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation’s (CSIC) Yuanzhou (Beijing) Technology, officially started the construction of a 53-meter aluminum alloy catamaran high-speed passenger ship for Tanzania. The ship is an important step for Afai to help Tanzanian residents and tourists to travel and further develop the high-end passenger ship market in Africa.

As a water-jet propelled catamaran high-speed passenger ship with 679 passenger seats, it is 53 meters in overall length, 12.5 meters in width, 4.35 meters in depth, 1.5 meters in design draft with 35.5 knots in design speed. It features low noise, good stability, good economy, high ride comfort and stylish appearance.

Equipped with an airline-class first class cabin to provide passengers with the ultimate travel experience, the ship will provide a more efficient and safer sailing option as well as a more comfortable sailing experience for residents and tourists traveling on the Dar es Salaam – Zanzibar route in Tanzania after its completion.

It is reported that AFAI has long been committed to the research, design and construction of high-performance aluminum alloy ships, and has built and delivered more than 70 high-speed passenger ships of various types, which have been exported to the UK, Denmark, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, South Korea, the US and other countries, and have covered most of China’s coasts and inland waterways.

Over the past ten years, AFAI’s high-speed passenger ships have steadily ranked the first in China and the forefront in the world in terms of market share, and have been highly evaluated by both domestic and foreign customers.
