CMJL (Nanjing) held steel cutting ceremony for an 82,000 DWT bulk carrier

On August 12, China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing) (CMJL (Nanjing)) held the steel cutting ceremony for an 82,000 DWT Kamsarmax bulk carrier which is the first of four 82,000 DWT Kamsarmax series bulk carriers ordered by China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES).

As previously reported, CMES released the “ Connected Transaction Announcement on Ordering of Vessels in Related Parties” on November 13, 2023, which stated that the company and CMJL (Nanjing) signed the contract for two 82,000 dwt dry bulk carriers and two 62,000 dwt multi-purpose vessels respectively, with a total amount of $160 million for the construction of the four vessels.

The construction project of four 82,000 DWT Kamsarmax series bulk carriers is an important step for CMES Bulk Fleet to build a professional grain transportation fleet and strengthen the capacity of grain transportation at sea.

The successful commencement of this project is a sign that CMES and China Merchants Industry have entered into a new phase of cooperation in promoting green and economic shipbuilding by serving the country’s overall situation.
