COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) completed sea trials of 154,000 DWT shuttle tanker

On August 13, the 6th 154,000 DWT shuttle tanker built by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) for a Norwegian shipowner successfully completed the sea trials and returned.

N787 is the 6th 154,000 DWT shuttle tanker built for Norwegian owner. Classed by DNV, the shuttle tanker has an overall length of 278.9 meters, a beam of 47 meters, a depth of 24.9 meters and a design draught of 16 meters. The shuttle tanker is equipped with DP2 power positioning control system and bow loading system.

Its ship energy efficiency design index meets the second phase of EEDI, and it adopts the design scheme of edium voltage enclosed busbar and variable frequency drive propellers to reduce the running time of the generator sets and achieve the purpose of energy-saving and consumption reduction, which makes it a shuttle tanker with the advantageous features of greenness, environmental protection and energy-saving.

With the joint efforts and collaboration of the ship owner, ship inspection and project team, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) successfully completed the main engine break-in and durability test, anchoring test, slewing and other performance test, rudder and automatic rudder test, bow and stern towing test, DP commissioning and other commissioning projects.

Moreover, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) also completed the testing projects of thruster load, thruster control SAT and thruster VFD SAT, THD, voltage drop, etc., which won the high recognition of the shipowner and the ship’s inspector for successfully completing the commissioning requirements in terms of quality and quantity.
