On August 12, Jiangnan Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), named and delivered the fifth of the series of 15,000 TEU dual-fuel containerships built for CMA CGM Group, which was named “CMA CGM BIG SUR”. So far, Jiangnan Shipbuilding has built and delivered 16 vessels for CMA CGM Group, and there are also 7 vessels in force for delivery.
It is reported that Jiangnan Shipbuilding has built a total of six 15,000 TEU dual-fuel container hips for MA CGM Group, and this is the fifth one in the series.
This batch of containerships has an overall length of 366 meters, a beam of 51 meters, a service speed of 22 knots, and adopts GTT Mark Ⅲ LNG containment system, which is characterized by large container capacity, advanced technology, energy-saving and environmental protection.
This batch of containerships adopts the world’s new generation of dual-fuel main engine with Intelligent Control by Exhaust Recycling (iCER) system, which can automatically track and dynamically adjust the ratio of air and gas through specific algorithms, and can reduce methane escape by 50% in gas mode compared with previous ones, which can reduce GHG emissions by more than 28%.
It is understood that the last containership in the series is scheduled for delivery in mid-September 2024.
