According to CCTV news news, on August 12, COOEC delivered a oil and gas collection and transportation platform, which is the biggest of its kind built by Chinese companies for a foreign client, and its completion marks a breakthrough in China’s large-scale offshore oil and gas equipment construction technology.
According to reports, Saudi Aramco is currently the world’s largest oil production company, Marjan platform is its Marjan oilfield production development project, the project will help Marjan oilfield become the world’s second largest offshore oilfield after the project is put into production. As one of the general contractors of the consortium, COOEC is responsible for the land-based construction and ship loading of the platform.
According to information, this is the largest oil and gas collection and transportation platform under construction in the world. After 34 months of construction, it was officially delivered and will depart for 6,400 nautical miles away from the sea for installation at the end of the month on a large transport ship.
This oil and gas collection and transportation platform is mainly responsible for collecting and transporting the extracted marine oil and gas to the land for processing, which is composed of complex systems such as large manifolds, pipeline cleaning, chemical treatment, operation control and etc.
The deck area of the platform is equivalent to 15 basketball courts, with a height of more than 24 floors, and it is the oil and gas gathering center hub of the whole oilfield group and the “throat” channel for external transportation. It can gather and transport 24 million tons of crude oil and 7.4 billion cubic meters of associated gas annually, and its oil and gas transport capacity ranks among the top in the world. The scale and volume of the platform, the size of the pipeline type, and the complexity of the system have all set records for international platforms of the same kind.
The platform will be installed in Saudi Arabian waters for the Marjan oilfield to increase production and development. It will further help release the oilfield’s production capacity by connecting the field’s important production and transportation facilities. After Marjan oilfield put into production, the annual crude oil production will reach 24 million tons, and the output of this single offshore oilfield is equivalent to the annual crude oil production of Shengli oilfield in China.
