Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding achieves three major production nodes for LNG carriers

On August 9, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding achieved success in the production nodes of three fifth-generation LNG carriers, realized the three major production nodes including two LNG carriers lauching and one LNG carrier cutting steel.

Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding successfully launched two 174,000 m³ LNG carriers from No.2 dock in the western part of Changxing Island three days earlier than planned; another two large LNG carriers completed the floating and shifting operation for half vessel; At the eastern plant on Changxing Island, a 174,000 m3 LNG carrier kicked off construction one day ahead of schedule.

The total lauching period of 2 LNG carriers and the floating period of 2 LNG carriers is significantly shorter than the previous batch, which marks that the strategy of doubling the production capacity of LNG carriers has been accelerated by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding.

The three LNG carriers under construction are the fifth generation “Changheng Series” LNG carriers independently developed and designed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, with an overall length of 299 meters, a beam of 46.4 meters and a depth of 26.25 meters.

Equipped with a number of low-carbon and energy-saving technologies, compared with the previous generation of LNG carriers, it is characterized by low comprehensive energy consumption, good low-temperature performance, strong cargo-carrying capacity, smart operation and maintenance, etc. The LNG carrier can reduce carbon emissions by more than 10 tons in a single day’s voyage and has excellent global accessibility to 120 LNG terminals on all continents.
