Wuhu Shipyard steel cut for the First 37,000 DWT Asphalt Carrier in its Weihai Base

Recently, Wuhu Shipyard Weihai Base held a steel cutting ceremony of a 37,000 DWT asphalt carrier, which was built for TEODOR SHIPPING Company of UAE in its Weihai Base.

It is understood that the 37,000 DWT asphalt carrier is a green, intelligent and energy-saving vessel tailor-made for TEODOR SHIPPING Company of the United Arab Emirates. The vessel has a length of 179.9 meters, a beam of 30.6 meters, a depth of 16.8 meters, and a deadweight of 37,000 tons, which is of currently the world’s largest deadweight tonnage.

Its cargo tank system adopts two sets of high-efficiency thermal oil boilers, which can ensure that the temperature of the asphalt cargo is constant at 180℃ during transportation, thus effectively guaranteeing the safety and transportation efficiency of the cargo. The asphalt carrier also incorporates a number of environmentally friendly and intelligent technologies, making it an upgraded vessel in line with the future development trend of shipping.

Since the Weihai Base put into operation, it has won the trust and praise of many shipowners both at home and abroad by its intelligent production process, exquisite craftsmanship and high quality service. Up to now, the order book of Weihai base has been scheduled until 2027. The total planning capacity of the base reaches 800,000 DWT, with a planned annual output value of RMB 5 billion and a processing capacity of 10,000 tons of steel per month.

At present, Wuhu Shipyard actively lays out the new energy vessel market, ploughs into the field of high value-added vessels, and continues to make efforts in various directions such as car carriers, asphalt carriers, MR tankers, bulk carriers, etc., so as to realize the transformation and upgrading from the traditional shipbuilding to intelligent shipbuilding.
