Meyer Werft launches the Wish-class cruise ship “Disney Treasure”

Meyer Werft has successfully launched the Wish-class cruise ship “Disney Treasure” for U.S.-based Disney Cruise Line. This cruise ship will now undergo final interior decorations and is scheduled for delivery later this year.

“Disney Treasure” features 1,240 staterooms with a capacity of 4,000 passengers and a gross tonnage of approximately 144,000. According to Disney Cruise Line’s Summer 2025 program release, this cruise will offer week-long sailings from Port Canaveral to the Eastern and Western Caribbean, including stops in Disney’s Drift Island, Tortola and St. Thomas in the east and Falmouth, Jamaica; and Grand Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico, in the west.

“Disney Treasure” is the second Wish-class ship built by Meyer Werft for Disney Cruise Line. On March 20, 2024, the third Wish-class cruise ship, Disney Destiny, was keel-laid at the Meyer Werft for delivery in 2025. Like its sister ship, Disney Wish, which was delivered in 2022, all three cruise ships are powered by low-emission liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion systems.

Meyer Werft and Disney Cruise Line have a long history of working together, with Meyer Werft delivering the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy to Disney Cruise Line in 2010 and 2012. Meyer Werft delivered “Disney Dream” and “Disney Fantasy” to Disney Cruise Line in 2010 and 2012. In 2022, Meyer Werft delivered the Disney Wish, the first new Disney Cruise Line ship in a decade and the first large-scale LNG-powered cruise ship, which launched on July 14, 2022 for its maiden voyage.

In addition, on July 9, Meyer Werft announced that it had signed a contract for the construction of one Disney Wish-class cruise ship with Oriental Land Company, a Japanese leisure travel company. This is the fourth Disney Wish Class cruise ship built by Meyer Werft and is expected to be delivered in 2028, when it will enter the Japanese market, with Oriental Land Company expected to begin operations in early 2029.
