On September 11, “Mediterranean Claude Girardet”, the No. 4 vessel of the 24,116 TEU ultra-large container ship series built by Hudong-Zhonghua for CSL and MSC, was named and delivered.This is the fourth vessel of the same type delivered by Hudong-Zhonghua to MSC.
The vessel is independently designed by Hudong-Zhonghua, with completely independent intellectual property rights, and is registered with DNV. The vessel has an overall length of 399.99 meters, which is more than 60 meters longer than the world’s largest aircraft carrier; a beam of 61.5 meters, with a deck area similar to four standard soccer fields; a depth of 33.2 meters, with the maximum number of stacking floors of up to 25 floors, which is equivalent to the height of 22-storey building, and it can carry more than 240,000 tons of cargo, and can be loaded with 24,116 standard containers.
This vessel is the last vessel of the Mediterranean project and the seventh “King of Cargo” built by Hudong-Zhonghua. The Mediterranean project started on July 30, 2021 for continuous construction.
Hudong-Zhonghua has further optimized the design and technology of the project. This design is a model of the world’s latest ultra-large container ship design, combining many highlights and features such as green, energy efficient and economic safety.The delivery of the vessel will further enhance the fleet strength of CSL and MSC, further improve the competitiveness of the shipping market, and achieve better efficiency and effectiveness.
