On August 1, Marine Design and Research Institute of China (MARIC) held a ceremony to inaugurate the “MAS” Maric Autonomous Ship Lab.
Mr. Lu Lin, President of MARIC, pointed out in his speech that the inauguration of “MAS” Maric Autonomous Ship Lab not only marked a solid step in the exploration of MARIC in the field of ship intelligence, but also an important milestone in the journey of MARIC quality development. He set out three expectations:
Firstly, MARIC should continue to carry forward the spirit of independent innovation, be brave to break through the traditional constraints and challenge the unknown fields, and explore the infinite possibilities of the intelligent technology of ships with a more open mind and more rigorous attitude, so as to contribute MARIC’s wisdom and strength to the progress of the shipbuilding industry.
Secondly, MARIC should strengthen internal and external exchanges and cooperation, and build an open and win-win innovation ecology. Actively seek opportunities for cooperation with MARIC’s internal and external advantageous forces, cultivate the formation of an intelligent ecosystem in the industry, and jointly promote the rapid development of intelligent technology for vessels.
Thirdly, MARIC will create intelligent ship brands and fist products with MARIC characteristics. Guided by market demand and adhering to integrated development, MARIC will continue to optimize product performance and improve service quality, and strive to build a number of intelligent ship products with independent intellectual property rights and market competitiveness, so as to drive the upgrading of MARIC industry.
The “MAS” Maric Autonomous Ship Lab is now mainly focused on improving the independent R&D capability of intelligent products, the integration and testing capability of technical products and the service capability of operating ships, which has initially established the infrastructure for the R&D and testing of intelligent products, and successfully researched and developed a number of typical intelligent products, such as the Intelligent Navigational System.
In the future, “MAS” Maric Autonomous Ship Lab will continue to improve the ship’s intelligent systems and products, and make a contribution to the MARIC to lead the new era of digital intelligent navigation.
