Imabari Shipbuilding Delivers 64,000 DWT Bulk Carrier “AQUADONNA”

On August 1, the 64,000 dwt bulk carrier “AQUADONNA” built by Imabari Shipbuilding’s shipyard was successfully delivered.

“AQUADONNA” is 199.98 meters in length, 32.24 meters in breadth and 19.30 meters in depth, with a deadweight of 63,526 tons and a gross tonnage of 36,278 tons. Equipped with a 6S50ME-C9.7 main engine, it has a speed of about 14.0 knots, and is classed by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) flying Panama’s national flag.

This bulk carrier is an ocean-going handymax bulk carrier applying the Common Structural Rules (CSR BC &OT). Each cargo hold has topside and hopper tanks, making it suitable for loading various kinds of cargo such as bulk cargoes, grain, coal, ore, cement, steel coil, long size steel, etc. It can also carry cargoes specified in the International Maritime Solid Clothing Code (IMSBC Code) and the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code). The deck is equipped with four cranes, enabling cargo handling even in ports without cargo handling facilities.

Thebulk carrier is equipped with eco-friendly equipment such as a ballast water treatment system and an inventory list based on the Ship Recycling Convention, and each piece of equipment is configured to comply with the provisions of the Convention for the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) relating to the prevention of air pollution.

The propulsion performance and environmental performance have also been improved by installing energy-saving fittings near the propellers and by using a hull coating that reduces friction.
