Wuhu Shipyard Launched A 14,600 DWT Heavy Lift Vessel

On July 30th, Wuhu Shipyard held a launching ceremony for the first 14,600 DWT heavy lift vessel built for German SAL shipping UG shipping company.

It is reported that SAL Heavy Lift and Wuhu Shipyard signed a contract for the construction of 4+2 14,600 dwt multi-purpose heavy lift vessels on July 15, 2022. In December 2023, SAL Heavy Lift exercised an option for a 14,600 dwt multi-purpose heavy lift vessel with Wuhu Shipyard, which increased its newbuilding order book with Wuhu Shipyard to five units.

The vessel is of advanced design, with an overall length of 149.90 meters, a beam of 27.20 meters, a depth of 13.50 meters and a design draft of 7.20 meters.

The vessel is equipped with a dual-fuel drive system, capable of using methanol fuel, and has the ability to navigate in the polar ice area. The combined lifting capacity of its two 800-ton heavy lift cranes reaches 1,600 tons, setting a new record for heavy lift vessels of the same class.
