On July 25th, Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group (WS), an affiliate of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, successfully started the construction of the 4th 18,500 DWT product oil/chemical tanker for Athenian Sea Carriers, marking that all the 4 tankers of this series have entered into production.
Classed by LR, the tanker has an overall length of 149.8 meters, a beam of 22.8 meters, a depth of 12.7 meters and a design draught of 8.5 meters, with a range of 10,000 nautical miles and a speed of 13 knots.
The tanker is for unlimited navigation area category 2 & 3 product oil/chemical tanker, designed with 6 pairs of cargo tanks and special coating process, mainly used for product oil and chemical transportation. Its performance parameters are lower fuel consumption, higher speed and larger loading compared with similar tankers.
The cargo pump adopts variable frequency electric pump, which features more flexible cargo loading and unloading and better economy. Meanwhile, it has LNGready, methanolready and ICE1C notations, adopts the latest 6.6KV high-voltage shore power system and unmanned cabin, and is a high-end new generation chemical ship with leading technology and green characteristics.
At present, the 4th 18,500 DWT product oil/chemical tanker series has been kicked off, and the production technology status and material preparation can ensure the subsequent successive construction requirements; the 2nd and 3rd tankers are in the stage of segment manufacturing, and the first tanker is in the stage of general assembly manufacturing.
