Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Wins Contract to Build 1+1 18,600 m3 LNG Bunkering Vessels

Recently, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), has received an order from TOTAL Energies (France) for the construction of 1+1 18,600m3 LNG bunkering vessels of the world’s latest V3.0 version. This is the 100th LNG carrier (equipment) that Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has undertaken cumulatively, which is of special significance.

It is understood that this project is owned by Spanish shipping company IBAIZABAL and operated by TOTAL Energies, which is the second cooperation between Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding and TOTAL Energies after 2018, further consolidating the foundation of friendly cooperation.

This LNG bunkering vessel is independently developed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, with a wider bunkering range and better performance indexes, reaching the world’s leading level. With a length of 135.9 meters, a beam of 24.5 meters and a depth of 16 meters, the vessel is classed by Bureau Veritas (BV) and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.

By fully adopting green, environmental protection and low-carbon equipment, this latest V3.0 version bunkering vessel is more “green”. Its technical highlights are mainly reflected in the following three aspects: better ship-to-shore compatibility; lower energy consumption and emissions; better energy saving and environmental protection.

Previously, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding delivered two 18,600 m3 LNG bunkering vessels, the V1.0 version of the “Gas Agility” and V2.0 version of the “Gas Vitality”, which have become the mainstay of TOTAL Energies in the field of LNG bunkering. According to statistics, the two vessels have completed more than 200 LNG refueling operations, which not only provide solutions for the global ship decarbonization journey, but also win good economic benefits for Total Energy.
