Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding and EPS sign contract for 3+3 210,000-ton Ammonia DF/DF Ready bulk carriers construction

On September 5, China Shipbuilding Group Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. together with China Shipbuilding Industry Trading Co., Ltd. and Eastern Pacific Shipping Pte. Ltd.(short for”EPS”)held a signing ceremony for the construction project of 3+3 210,000 dwt Ammonia DF/DF Ready bulk carriers, which opens the first cooperation between Beihai Shipbuilding and EPS.

The 3+3 vessels of 210,000 dwt Ammonia DF/DF Ready bulk carriers contracted are designed by CSDC, a design company under Beihai Shipbuilding. With an overall length of 300.00 meters, a beam of 50.00 meters, a depth of 25.20 meters, a structural draught of 18.40 meters, and a speed of 14.0 knots, the new shipingbuilding can meet the requirements of the third phase of the Ship EEDI (Phase III). Meanwhile, the vessel meets the ammonia fuel pre-setting, and will be equipped with ammonia-fueled main engine and two 3,000 m3 ammonia-fueled C-type tanks in the later stage to ensure that ammonia fuel can be used in the future to realize the ship’s whole life-cycle “zero-carbon” operation.Beihai Shipbuilding continues to focus on the market of large bulk carriers, with 35 NEWCASTLEMAX-type bulk carriers in hand, ranking first in the world in terms of market share. Among them, the proportion of new energy green ship type is more than 80%. Beihai Shipbuilding will continue to focus on the needs of core customers, dedicate to the design and development of new energy green-powered vessels and plough into the market of new energy vessels.
