France’s GTT has announced that it has signed a contract with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in the second quarter of 2024 to provide liquid cargo tank designs for two 174,000 m³ liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers ordered by a European shipowner.
According to GTT’s announcement, the 2 LNG carriers will be equipped with the GTT-developed Mark III Flex membrane containment system with a cargo tank capacity of 174,000 m³ each, and the new shipbuildings are expected to be delivered in the first to second quarter of 2028.
Sources said the two LNG carriers are from Greek shipping company Evalend Shipping, and the cost of a single unit is about $269 million.
Last week, GTT also announced that it had signed a contract with Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation(DSIC), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), for the design of the liquid cargo tanks of two LNG carriers, which are expected to be delivered in the first to second quarter of 2028.
