HRDD completed an FPSO conversion project

On July 20, the “offshore super factory”AGOGO FPSO was slowly pulled away from the quay, marking Huarun Dadong Dockyard’s (HRDD) successful completion of the FPSO conversion project.

“AGOGO FPSO” is the third FPSO conversion project between HRDD and YINSON. The project is to convert a 320,000 DWT VLCC built in 2009 into an FPSO “offshore super factory” with a length of 333 meters, a beam of 60 meters and a depth of 30.5 meters. After conversion, the FPSO will serve Angola, West Africa, with AZULE as the end customer.

It is reported that the conversion involves a large number of structural modifications, pipe laying, cable laying, special coating work and the production and lifting of a number of modules, which is an extremely complex project.

Among them, the pipe system exceeded 130 km, cable laying exceeded 600 km, special coating work exceeded 320,000 square meters, new production and overall lifting of 150-person living area module, E-house power supply module and over 125-meter-high torch tower, as well as a number of module lifting and loading, etc.. The technical requirements are high and the construction is difficult.

HRDD kicked off the construction of the project on February 8, 2023, with a total conversion period of 17.5 months.

Notably, HRDD is more than 2 months ahead of other companies in construction speed than the same type of FPSO conversion project by its effective management system and advanced technology as well as processes.
