On July 16, Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry (XSI) under Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group, and SPD Bank Xiamen Branch formally signed a financing agreement for the construction of a 114,000 DWT liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel tankers.
Designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), this series of vessel is of double-bottomed, double-hulled, stern-type, single-engine, single-propeller, dual-fuel-propelled Aframax tankers.
With an overall length of about 249.9 meters, a beam of 44 meters and a deadweight of about 113,600 tons, the Aframax tanker meets the NOx TIER III emission standard and is characterized by energy saving, environmental protection and strong adaptability. It is mainly used for loading crude oil and product oil. This vessel is the largest vessel undertaken in Fujian Province up to now, both in terms of main scale and deadweight tonnage.
The eight 114,000 DWT (LNG) dual-fuel tankers being undertaken by XSI represent the state-of-the-art in technology and environmental protection for today’s shipbuilding industry and are designed to reduce the environmental footprint of the shipping industry, while improving energy efficiency and operating economics.
With the green wave sweeping through the global ship market and the increasingly fierce competition in the global shipbuilding industry, XSI has actively responded to the national “dual-carbon” strategy and implemented the new development concept. As early as 2020, the world’s first 7,500 CEU LNG dual-fuel Ro-Ro vessel delivered by XSI won the “Shippax Ro-Ro Technology & Environment Award in 2021” issued by Shippax, a global professional forum for Ro-Ro vessels, which helps the marine economy develop in the direction of green, low-carbon and eco-friendly, and is the first to win the favor of the market with its high-quality products.
