Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Named a 32000DWT Heavy Lift Vessel

On July 12, Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), held a naming ceremony for H2470, which was named “AAL HAMBURG”. The vessel will be delivered this month, more than 2 months earlier than the contract period.

“AAL HAMBURG” is the second 32,000DWT heavy lift vessel built by Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding for Schoeller Holdings Group.

This vessel is the third generation of professional heavy lift vessel, featuring retractable deck, green energy saving and high cost performance. It can meet the loading requirements of various large cargoes, fulfill sailing in open cargo hold conditions, and is equipped with a dual-fuel methanol-ready MAN main engine. It complies with HPSCR, EEDI Phase III and NOx Tier III standards, obtaining the DNV methanol reserved class notation.

On the basis of the first vessel construction, the project team of Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, guided by the idea of improving quality and efficiency and striving for excellence, gave full play to the advantages of the serialization of the main built vessels, and takes the key construction schedule and construction index of the project as the core of its work.

During the construction period, the project team of Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding broke through the technological difficulties in the installation and commissioning of the main deck hatch cover, fixed and optimized the process, which laid a solid foundation for the smooth and efficient construction of the subsequent vessels. Compared with the first vessel, this vessel’s launching and sea trial indexes have made new progress, the overall construction efficiency and quality have been further improved, and the construction cost has been reduced.

Since 2008, Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding has successively built for Schoeller Holdings Group a number of vessels such as 1700TEU, 1900TEU, 2700TEU, 2800TEU containerships and 32,000DWT heavy lift vessels, totaling nearly 30 units, and has established a deep friendship with the shipowner.
