On July 11, the Vizhinjam Port automated terminal project of Adani Group in India constructed by Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC) welcomed the operation of the first commercial vessel Maersk San Fernando, which marked that India’s first automated terminal formally stepped into commercial operation stage.
In Adani Group’s Vizhinjam Port Automated Terminal EPC project, ZPMC not only supplied the conventional automated harbor equipment including 8 sets of quay bridges, 24 sets of double cantilever rail cranes, and Equipment Control System (ECS), but also provided the integration of all terminal related subsystems, such as Terminal Operations System (TOS), Terminal Access System (TAS), and Reefer Management System (RMS), and covered the after-sales service market, such as spare parts contracting for terminal operations.
This project is India’s first large-scale deepwater port and container transshipment port, the first automated terminal, and the largest project between ZPMC and Adani Group.
The quay bridge equipment has an on-rail lifting height of 53 meters, which breaks the lifting record of traditional quay bridges in India, and is equipped with advanced OCR system and operating system.
The double cantilever rail cranes has a rated load of 41 tons, with a span of 36.54 meters and a lifting height of 18.5 meters, which is equipped with an advanced automated operating system, intelligent lubrication system, vibration monitoring system and automatic fire extinguishing system.
The commissioning of all the equipments will significantly enhance the operational efficiency and safety of Adani Group’s Vizhinjam port operations. The port’s first phase is expected to have a total annual throughput of 1 million containers, bringing new dynamism to the logistics and transportation industry in India and globally.
