New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry has received orders for $550 million since its reset

From Jianglian Shipbuilding to New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry (New Jiangzhou), from indebtedness to rebirth, from bankruptcy reorganization to revitalization success.

The original former entity known as Jiangxi Jiangzhou Union Shipbuilding Co., Ltd was the privatization of a historical state-owned shipyard in China named Jiangzhou Shipyard(granted No.6214) since the year 1969 , used to be a military background and the largest shipbuilding enterprise in Jiangxi province, developed under the vessel Group of CSSC in the north. During past years once owning more than 7,000 employees at its peak season. The company has built more than 300 vessels of various types, such as hydrographic survey vessels, engineering soldier special pontoon bridge, 1500 passenger catamaran passenger vessels, harbor tugs, and inter-island water supply vessels of the South China Sea Fleet. With the change of times, the former Jianglian shipyard gradually went into decline.

Jiangxi New JiangZhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co.,Ltd was established on March 31, 2023 with registered capital of 50 million CNY. Its main businesses include steel vessel manufacturing for both civil and public service vessel type, as well as bridge steel structure manufacturing, vessel repair etc. Its major targeted segment market is Medium & Small vessels including but not limited liquid cargo vessel, feeder container vessel, bulk carrier & multi-purpose vessel to be mostly focused as major product scope.

The Company is located at Xiachao Lake, Matou town, Ruichang city, Jiangxi Province, at the east corner under Yangtze River Wuxue Bridge in the territory of Jiangxi province, on the opposite river side of Wuxue city in Hubei province. It is about 60 kilometers to Jiujiang city and about 150 kilometers to Nanchang city (airport). CRH speedy train connects either West Ruichang station or Jiujiang/Lushan station, with easy transportation to shipyard by car. A very unique geographic advantage of location is that the shipyard owns the total fresh water area of Xiachao Lake about 2,400 acres, with average water depth of 8m all year around, a level-controlled water gate connects Xiachao Lake & Yantze River.

Upon establishment, the major investors of the Company are QinShi Group Co., Ltd, whom is holding control of the public company Bestway Marine and Energy Technology Co., Ltd, and Jiangsu Yangchuan Investment Development Co., Ltd, whom was subsidiary controlled by public company Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group.

The Company is a shipyard undertaking medium-and-high scale of shipbuilding projects in Jiangxi Province, being the fruit of local government investment promotion in 2023 which is knownas “Green Materials& High standard Shipbuilding Project”. To secure pure clean title of all necessary production facility for this new company being inherited from the former entity of shipyard named Jiangxi Jiangzhou Union Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, all types of real estate and facilities were free of-charge taken over from Ruilian Investment management Co.,Ltd , a subsidiary of Ruichang city Investment Company under government control.

Whereas nowadays the Jiangxi New Jiangzhou is successfully restructured and reorganized from its predecessor to take on a brand new look in shipping industry. As a symbolic announcement to open new era of vessel building business this company has declared steel cutting for newbuilding projects on the date 30th Nov 2023.

The Company is totally qualified for taking in orders of construction of vessels, it owns the qualification type of Class I Category II for shipbuilding & Class I and Category Ill for vessel repair, as well as CCS management system. In possession of a lake side outfitting wharf in length of 750meter, a in-lake-pier in length of 400meter, plus an outfitting wharf in length of 360m at Yangtze river line. The Company covers an area of approximately 1,560 acres, with one unit of 6,720㎡ indoor slipway in size of 168m x 36m with lifting height 25.8m and two units of outdoor slipways each representing 14625㎡ in size of 250m x 37m and 10868㎡in size of 250m x 37m respectively, with lifting height 40m.

Since the establishment of New Jiangzhou, the shipyard has reorganized its production elements, reshaped the brand of Jiangzhou Shipbuilding, and gradually gained the recognition of the market, and successively signed domestic and foreign vessel orders.

In April this year, the new Jiangzhou and Denmark, a century-old shipping company reached a long-term strategic cooperation, to undertake eight 6800 tons of duplex stainless steel methanol dual-fuel chemical tanker construction project, the total value of the order is about 1.4 billion yuan. This is not only the largest single shipbuilding export order in Jiangxi province, but also the first new energy vessel order exported from the province, marking a big step forward for new Jiangzhou to the new energy vessel market.

In order to successfully complete this challenging project, New Jiangzhou launched a comprehensive talent training and technology innovation program. Xin Jiangzhou attaches great importance to technological innovation, and makes full use of the flexibility mechanism of private enterprises to realize pay and benefit sharing, which greatly stimulates the team’s enthusiasm and creativity.

In terms of technological innovation, Xin Jiangzhou spares no effort. In the development of vessel type, Xin Jiangzhou and Shanghai Alsen Maritime hand in hand, jointly explore and practice the forefront of new energy vessel design. In addition, the new Jiangzhou also actively with the Hubei Donghu New Energy Technology to establish a cooperative relationship, and jointly study the new energy vessel technology innovation.

With the steady progress of the project, Xin Jiangzhou’s modern workshop, intelligent manufacturing workshop, a busy and orderly production scene is gradually and vividly displayed. From the precise operation of the laser cutting machine to the flexible operation of the aerial work vehicle, every process is full of the power of science and technology and the vitality of innovation.

According to the relevant personnel of Xinjiang Zhou, “This year, our goal is to realize 3 billion yuan orders, but just after half a year, the total orders are close to 4 billion yuan. Our company plans to take new energy vessels as a breakthrough before 2026, realize the target of output value of 1.5 billion to 2 billion yuan, deliver about 12 vessels, and become a leader in the field of high-end vessels and new energy vessels with the best quality and largest capacity in the middle and upper reaches of the Changjiang River.”
