Hudong-Zhonghua reports its first-half results

Recently, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), named and delivered the 13,000 TEU dual-fuel container ship “CMA CGM Behren”. Thus, the company realized the cumulative delivery of 12 ships in the first half of the year, completing 60% of the annual plan.

“CMA CGM Behren” is a new generation of green, energy efficient and environmentally friendly container ship with flexible container loading, leading technology and energy saving.

The ship adopts LNG dual-fuel power system and is equipped with CSSC’s own brand CMD-WinGD9X9DF-2.0 main engine. It is also equipped with a new generation of Intelligent Controlled by Exhaust Recycling (ICER) system, which can reduce methane escape in gas mode by 50% and greenhouse gas emission by more than 28%.

The ship is also fitted with wind flow deflectors, which can save 2%~4% fuel consumption in actual operation; and energy-saving deflectors on the stern, which can improve propeller propulsion efficiency, reduce energy consumption by about 1.5%, and significantly reduce CO2 gas emissions.

It is reported that Hudong-Zhonghua production and operation go hand in hand, for the first half of 2024 production and operation is powerful, but also lay a solid foundation for the completion of the annual production and operation tasks and objectives.

In terms of business operation, the company successfully signed an order for 18 of the world’s largest 271,000 m³ ultra-large LNG carriers; signed a contract for the construction of four 14,000 TEU methanol-fueled reserved large container ships, enriching the “green family tree” of large container ships; and completed the full-year business undertakings ahead of schedule on June 14th.

In terms of production, the company set a new record of the world’s fastest sea trial voyage of large LNG carriers in 4.5 days, and achieved a new domestic record of delivering two large LNG carriers in a single month.
