World’s Largest LNG Carrier AAMIRA Berthed at Yangkou Port for 29th Time

On July 5, the world’s largest (Q-Max) liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier AAMIRA from Qatar safely berthed at PetroChina’s Jiangsu LNG Receiving Terminal in Nantong’s Yangkou Port, making it the 700th vessel to berth at Yangkou.

According to statistics, this is the 29th time that the LNG carrier has berthed at the station, making it the vessel with the highest number of berthing. It is 345.3 meters long and 53.8 meters wide, with a projected area equivalent to 2.6 soccer fields. It is carrying 115,000 tons and 261,900 cubic meters of LNG, which can be gasified into 160 million cubic meters of natural gas, which can produce roughly 900 million kWh of electricity, and can be used by 30 million households in the Yangtze River Delta region for one month in summer.

It is understood that AAMIRA’s first port call was in 2012, the loading port for the Qatar Ras Laffan. It departed from Qatar Ras Laffan 15 days ago and traveled through the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, the Indian Ocean, the Strait of Malacca, the Pacific Ocean to the east of Taiwan, the East China Sea, and the waters of the Yellow Sea before finally arriving at the port of Yangkou.

Over the past 10 years, Jiangsu LNG Receiving Terminal has been handling about 70% of the resources of the ” the Belt and Road” countries, and has become one of the important windows for the economic and trade exchanges between the East and the West.

Jiangsu LNG Receiving Terminal is currently the largest clean energy hub base with the strongest guarantee capacity in the Yangtze River Delta region, with six LNG storage tanks and a total capacity of 1.08 million cubic meters.

Jiangsu LNG Receiving Terminal is currently the largest clean energy hub base with the strongest guarantee capacity in the Yangtze River Delta region, with six LNG storage tanks and a total capacity of 1.08 million cubic meters. Since its official commissioning on May 24, 2011, it has received and unloaded a total of 58 million tons of LNG and exported more than 80 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

Relying on the 3-square-kilometer Sunshine Island, Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone has actively seized the national strategic opportunities to vigorously develop the LNG clean energy industry, and has successively introduced four major energy projects such as PetroChina Jiangsu LNG Receiving Terminal, Jiangsu Provincial LNG Storage and Transportation Peaking Project, GCL Huidong LNG Receiving Terminal, and Rudong Yangkou Port LNG Receiving Terminal, and is focusing on building the leading LNG receiving and discharging bases, reserve bases, supply bases, and sales centers in the country even in the world.
