Hudong-Zhonghua set to build two 174,000 cbm LNG carriers in parallel

On the morning of July 4, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Hudong-Zhonghua) kicked off the construction of two 174,000 cbm LNG carriers (H1884A and H1801A) at the same time in its Changxing Island, which are the 11th and 12th LNG carriers started by the shipyard this year.


The two LNG carriers under construction are the fifth generation “Changheng Series” LNG carriers independently developed by Hudong-Zhonghua, with an overall length of 299 meters, a beam of 46.4 meters and a depth of 26.25 meters.

The LNG carrier are equipped with a number of low-carbon and energy-saving technologies, and compared with the previous generation of LNG carriers, they are characterized by low comprehensive energy consumption, good low-temperature performance, strong cargo-carrying capacity, smart handling and operation and maintenance, etc. With a reduction of more than 10 tons of carbon emissions per day of sailing and access to 120 LNG terminals on every continent, it has excellent global navigability.

At present, Hudong-Zhonghua hand held for more than 30 fifth-generation LNG carriers. Each LNG carrier project team is empowered by science and technology and strives hard to promote lean management, and continuously consolidated the position of “chain leader” of LNG industry chain.
