Headway Technology Group recently won the bid for the methanol fuel supply system of 4+6 ships of 89,000 DWT methanol dual-fuel bulk carriers of Fujian Guohang Ocean Shipping (Group) Co., Ltd.
Headway will provide a one-stop solution for the project, covering core modules such as bunkering and transfer systems, methanol fuel treatment units, nitrogen systems, and control and security systems. In addition, Headway has also achieved a cooperation agreement with Fratelli Cosulich of Italy to provide a methanol fuel supply system for its 7,990 DWT methanol dual-fuel tanker, which is reported as the world’s first vessel to use MAN 21/31DF-M generators as the main propulsion power.
The 4+6 89,000 DWT methanol dual-fuel bulk carriers of Fujian Guohang Ocean Shipping adopt MAN B&W 6S60ME-C10.5-LGIM-EGRBP engines. Those vessels will be built by Wuhu Shipyard and equipped with a complete set of Headway’s OceanGuard® Methanol Fuel Supply System. Currently, the first 4 vessels of this series have been effective and are expected to be delivered in 2025 to 2026.
Furthermore, the first 7,990 DWT IMO II methanol dual-fuel tanker ordered by Fratelli Cosulich from Taizhou Fengye Shipyard will also use Headway’s OceanGuard® Methanol Fuel Supply System. This vessel, which is the world’s first to use MAN 21/31DF-M generators as the main propulsion power, is scheduled to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2025. Headway will provide solutions including bunkering and transfer systems, methanol fuel treatment units, double-walled pipe ventilation systems, and control and security systems.
OceanGuard® Methanol Fuel Supply System is the first domestic mature solution for methanol fuel supply system which has been already applied successfully. It has passed the online operation test of prevailing low-speed engine brand, and the performance and safety of each module can meet the needs of large marine dual-fuel engines.
