CGT undertakes the contract of a FGSS project of 7500m³ LCO2C for DSOC

Recently, the EPC contract of 7500 m³ LCO2C High-pressure Fuel Gas Supply System (FGSS) signed between Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore Co. (DSOC for short) and Cryolobe Gas Technology Co., Ltd. (CGT for short) came into effect.

This series of LCO2C will serve for the EU’s first open and flexible infrastructure to safely store CO2 from industrial emitters across Europe. The 3# vessel will bear the same characteristics as its 1# and 2# sister vessels, expecting a delivery at the end of 2025. (Total Length: appox. 130m, Vessel Breadth: appox. 21m, Flag: Norway, Classification Society: DNV)

The vessel’s main engine is powered with dual-type fuel of LNG and marine light diesel. With its accumulated design experience and technical strength across the years, CGT tailors the FGSS based on specification of this LCO2C. The system ensures the normal navigation of the vessel while meeting a strict emission limitation for sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides, reducing such emissions. By adopting innovative technologies including main engine off-gas monitoring system and shaft generator, the vessel reaches the most advanced Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI Phase III) standard.

Its 1# and 2# sister vessels signed between Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. (DSIC for short) and Northern Lights are under construction and CGT has been contracted as the EPC provider of their FGSS and provided part of the cargo handling system (CHS) design for the project. CGT has been given credit by the clients and Class acknowledging its excellence in engineering and efficiency, which promotes the award of the contract with DSOC.

The LCO2C will serve for the transport of greenhouse gases from industrial emitters across Europe to an onshore terminal in Norway. The CO2 will be delivered by pipeline to dedicated reservoirs 2,600 meters under the seabed in the North Sea for permanent storage. As a new attempt to the move towards carbon neutrality, the project has received widespread attention since its launch.
